Durham · March 2026
A south-facing bay in a beautifully kept Victorian semi. Full-height hardwood shutters were made to the angles of the bay, with a mid-rail to allow the lower louvres to be closed for privacy while the top half lets the morning light pour in.

Independently operating upper and lower panels give this main bedroom complete flexibility — privacy at night, uninterrupted garden views by day. Hidden tilt rods keep the look clean and contemporary.

The owners wanted privacy from the road without losing any natural light. Half-height café-style shutters in a soft white finish were the answer — and they pair beautifully with the open shelving above.

Bespoke shutters fitted directly to a pair of French doors leading onto the garden. Hand-cut frames, cut-outs around the handles and magnetic catches mean the doors open and close as effortlessly as before.

A run of bi-fold doors over four metres wide needed a smarter solution than blinds. Tracked shutters slide neatly to one side when stacked, then close to give the room a calm, considered finish in the evenings.

A beautiful arched landing window that had been left bare for years. Templated by hand, made in solid hardwood and finished to follow the curve perfectly — finally a way to dress it without losing the architectural detail.

Solid hardwood panels (no louvres) for a guest bedroom that needed proper blackout when closed. Period-style raised mouldings tie in with the existing joinery and the room is genuinely dark at night.

A whole-house project covering eleven windows across three floors, all in a consistent off-white finish. Phased over two visits to keep disruption to a minimum — the family stayed in throughout.

Plantation shutters paired with a discreet roller blackout shade behind — the best of both worlds. Used here in a master bedroom where the streetlight outside used to be a problem.
